It is quite heartening to note that the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan has called on prime minister to brief him about the current status of CPEC projects, revealing, among other things, that the next focus will be increased investments into Pakistan. Coming as it does from a Chinese envoy, the news give birth to some legitimate hopes among the government circles and people at large about the foreign investment prospects in the country. That FDI is critical to any developing country's high growth prospects is a fact. Our bruised and battered economy needs a huge injection of foreign investment at this point in time. This country cannot afford to allow an economic slowdown to persist for whatever reasons. The incumbent PTI government seems to have done quite well in near six months of its five-year tenure but its needs to work harder for the situation brooks no complacency. All members of Prime Minister Imran Khan's economic team are required to pull their socks up.
